Our Trust of Schools

Nursery and Pre-School

Whipton Barton Day Nursery is part of the Whipton Barton Federation and is located at the far end of Whipton Barton Infant School, on the same green and spacious site as Whipton Barton Junior School.  We are situated around a large field bordered by woodland almost totally concealed and not visible from the road.

Whipton Barton Day Nursery caters for children aged between two and four years old.  We split our children according to their age into two buildings which are situated adjacent to each other. Children can attend the Nursery from their 2nd birthday and then move to the Pre-school in the September before they start Reception although some children may transition to the Pre-School a little earlier.

In the Nursery and Pre-School, enjoyment and fun are linked with exploration, discovery and learning. All of our children benefit from the expertise of our highly qualified staff who all act as key workers to ensure that every child gets the individual care they require.  During their day with us, children participate in a balance of adult-led learning activities and child-initiated play.  We plan an exciting and challenging curriculum based on our observations of children’s needs, interests and stages of development across the seven areas of learning of the Foundation Stage curriculum.

In the Nursery and Pre-School we are committed to:

  • Providing a service of the highest standards that will develop and improve each child’s educational experience

  • Respecting each child as an individual, taking into account their appropriate developmental needs and promoting equality and celebrating diversity

  • Ensuring that our service is in accordance with the latest standards for care and education

  • Ensuring that our staff are selected, trained and supervised to meet the needs of the children in their care

  • Managing our services efficiently and effectively

  • Valuing partnerships with Parents/Carers
